What is High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)?
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound is the latest clinically proven technology for face lifting and the reduction in the appearance of lines and wrinkles. HIFU directly delivers heat energy to the skin and subcutaneous tissue which then stimulates and renews the skin’s collagen, improves its texture, and reduces sagging. HIFU technology is the next generation in advanced facial rejuvenation with visible longer lasting results with no downtime.

How does it work?
HIFU directly penetrate into the deep layer of the skin, including the superfacial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) layer (4.5mm), dermis layer (3mm). The tissue friction instantly warms up to 60-80℃, forming a continuous thermocoagulation, causing the SMAS layer to contract and lift the face. The hot coagulation point reaches a high temperature of 60-80℃, focusing the heat, transfer the energy, includes the compaction of collagen and elastin, rearranges the cells, whitens and has a perfect skin effect on the skin surface and deep layers. It will not cause any harm to the skin surface.

Is it suitable for my skin?
A HIFU Non Surgical Face Lift treatment is great for the following skin concerns: ageing skin, fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, loose skin, face needing contouring, skin needing tightening, toning or definition.

How many treatments do I need?
Depending on your concern and treatment area, 1-3 Treatments may be required to achieve optimum results

How long does it take to see my results?
After your HIFU Treatment, you may see some initial effects, but the ultimate results will take place over 2-3 months, as your body naturally regenerates collagen.

How long does the result last?
Results vary for each person and of course depend on your home care routine, however results will usually last anywhere between 12-24 months. After 24 months we would recommend a top up treatment.

What are the contraindications?
People who have open lesions or wounds, cystic acne, existing keloid scarring, mechanical or dermal implants, implanted electrical devices (pacemakers) or metal implants in the face or treated area, pregnancy or breastfeeding, warfarin or other blood thinners, anti-epileptic medication, anti-depressants, anti-psychotic medication should not proceed with HIFU.

Are there any side effects from HIFU?
The skin might appear redness at first, which can be during treatment but sometimes last longer. The redness should, however, disappear within a few hours. Some clients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Others, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin.

How painful is HIFU?
HIFU may cause some small discomfort, there is no pain. Comfort levels can vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the energy is being delivered.

Post treatment care:

● Avoid hot water when washing the face until the ‘blush’ has subsided.
● Makeup (preferably mineral based) may be applied immediately post treatment.
● Soothing, non-irritating creams or moisturisers may be used.
● Avoid/ minimise sun exposure immediately after the treatment.
● Avoid exfoliation, or any aggressive skin treatment, for at least one week or until all sensitivity in the treatment area has subsided.
● Increase protein intake to boost the skin healing (collagen regeneration) process.
● Highly recommend gentle, regenerative and healing facial treatments (such as Collagen, Oxygen Therapy and LED light therapy). Treatments can start once all sensitivity in the treatment area has subsided – usually 1-2 weeks post HIFU treatment.
● Regenerative, nourishing serums and moisturisers are the best to use as home-care products.
